After shed loads of rain, the drive to Pendam told us that this was going to be one very wet day in the hills. Steve and I met Andy, Malcolm and Rhodri at Pendam and we decided that due to the floods to cut the planned 30 mile ride down to around 20 by missing out the really exposed moorland / mountain stuff towards Hyddgen.

So we set off along the conti trail towards Nant-y-Moch. The first ford was impossible with so much water in the river so we used the bridge. We then turned left down to another ford rather than head off to Nant-y-Moch. This was looked too deep to ride through so we waded through. Then it was down the Bont-Goch descent where I got a nice big slash in my rear tyre (which I have been meaning to replace for a while). The tubless techonology worked though and after a sketchy descent into Cyneiniog with a very flat rear tyre I pumped it up again and this time it stayed inflated.

We then climbed back up to Anglers retreat, back to Nant-y-Moch and then up over another little hill and back to the Conti Trail. Malcolm had a bit of a crash on the descent back to the ford but once he'd brushed himself off bike and body were fine so we continued on our way.

All in all a nice easy ride with the sun shining depsite it being very wet on the ground.
